Our Mission

Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ.

Above all, Christ's disciples faithfully follow him in every area of their lives (Mt 16:24; 28:20).  Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” He then gave us the second commandment, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  Jesus then said, “On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:36-40).  Simply put, as disciples we are commanded to love God and love others.  Throughout Scripture obedience to these two great commands is prioritized in four spheres of discipleship (see below)

Four Spheres of Discipleship

Throughout Scripture, obedience to these two commands is prioritized in four
spheres of discipleship:

1.  Our relationship with God
2.  Our relationship with and ministry to our family.
3.  Our relationship with and ministry to our church.
4.  Our relationship with and ministry to the world.

Therefore, at Gospel Fellowship we seek to disciple people in these four areas.
Growth in these four spheres of discipleship is interrelated and occurs simultaneously.  However, there is a priority:  God, family, church, and world.

Sphere 1: God

Our first concern for each person in our church is their relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Have they responded to God’s grace, repented of their sins, and trusted Christ? Are they growing in Christ-likeness? Are they growing by God's grace in prayer, Scripture, obedience, and love for God?  This is the heart of discipleship.

Sphere 2: Family

Our next priority is to encourage people to live out their faith in their family relationships.  All believers are called to honor their parents, provide for family members in need, and prioritize their relationships with their siblings.  We celebrate both God’s call to marriage and God’s call to singleness (1 Corinthians 7).  If married, our first ministry priority is to our spouse.  Husbands are called to love, serve, and encourage faith in their wives.  Wives are called to help and bless their husbands.  Heads of households are called to be the spiritual leaders of their families.  Parents and grandparents are called to do all they can to make disciples of their children and grandchildren. In short, the call to be and make disciples begins at home.

Sphere 3: Church

God then calls us into loving and mutually edifying relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ, within our local church and beyond.  Jesus said the world will know we belong to Him by our love for one another (John 13:35).  We are commanded not to neglect meeting together.  Therefore, we seek to grow in godly relationships with one another through prayer, encouragement, and support. We emphasize the New Testament command for fellowship taking place through hospitality in our homes.

Sphere 4: World

God calls us to make disciples of all nations (Matt 28:18-20).  The early church carried the gospel with them everywhere, maturing and multiplying as they went.  We seek to follow this New Testament command and pattern as well.  As we grow in our faith we long to overflow with love, grace, and the gospel.  Therefore, we emphasize sharing the good news with our friends, neighbors, communities, and the world.  Part of our multiplication vision is to continually plant new churches as God enables.
